The magnet is a 4T former-MRI magnet obtained from University of Queensland hospital in Brisbane, Australia in 2016.

The maximum magnetic field that can be used in the ISOLDE hall is currently 2.5T, limited by safety constraints. It is intended to increase this limit in the future to utilise the full 4T capability of the magnet.
